Why black and white?

Newborn vision is roughly 20/400. In the first months, babies see large, bold, high-contrast patterns best โ€” and research going back to Fantz's looking-time studies (1961) shows they gaze longest at strong contrasts and simple face-like shapes. That focused looking is how young visual systems get their exercise.

These are physical cards for supervised awake time โ€” not screen content. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends avoiding screens for children under 18โ€“24 months, which is exactly why we made something you print.
